"Standing in front of my very first class in Indonesia, my palms were sweaty, but the eager faces of my students lit a spark in me that I will never forget."

A Teaching Practice of a Young Foreign Language Teacher

The classroom I stepped into was unlike any I had experienced before. It was filled with young, sprouting minds—a familiar sight to me—but also minds that spoke a language different from my own. And so, at SMP UMP, I practiced the art of teaching with the heart of a student, learning as much from my students as I taught them. As I go along this stint journey and reach its end, every word exchanged between me and my pupils was a thread, weaving a tapestry of understanding between us. I taught them English. They taught me life.

During my stay as a student-teacher in SMP UMP, my professional growth sprouted with brisk. I found my headspace scattered in between organized schedules, preparing for tomorrow's another adventure, and coming up for ideas to make sure my students' enthusiasm would not wilt. Yet, despite the weight of my responsibilities, there is no doubt a silent and sentiment joy in the journey. Each challenge became an opportunity to embrace the true essence of being an educator—a calling that goes beyond tasks and schedules. It was in the laughter of my students, the spark in their eyes when understanding dawned, and the connections we forged.

A Forethought and an Overnight Effort Before 'The Day'

T'was a day before "the" day,

t'was a night before twilight,

not words much need to say,

in yellow hues she ignite.

Objectives and strategies alight,

O' the clocks delights,

Ev'ry heys and tik-a-tak

Not a demotivation can block.

You'll see tomorrow,

You'll see a track,

From a path that paved,

A forethought and effort that paid.

Then Tomorrow Came: Her Final Demo Teaching

My final demo-teaching was a blast!

My final demo teaching was a blend of various learning styles, designed to engage students on multiple levels. I incorporated games and activities, including dancing, to motivate them kinesthetically. The lesson was structured into three key parts: first, engaging and motivating the students; second, immersing them in the lesson through interactive discussion; and finally, assessing their understanding using a mix of gamification and traditional methods.
